The Conejo Valley Unitarian Universalist Community Forum held this past Friday was on immigration reform and led by Dr. Jose Alamillo, a professor at CSUCI. Dr. Jose Alamillo was enlightening and shared compelling reasons that our country urgently needs comprehensive immigration reform. About 50 people were in attendance and the questions afterwards showed the diversity of perspectives on the issue. All agreed that reforming the current system was essential.HR 4321 introduced by Congressman Gutierriez this past December attempts to address immigration reform at multiple levels. As terrible as it is, perhaps the recent Arizona legislation will serve to push the issue of immigration to the forefront and move the bill for comprehensive immigration forward.
